TODAY, at 2:50 am local time, the entire Roblox system was knocked out by a massive DDoS attack.
We’re working to restore the service as quickly as possible, but it’ll likely take some time.
Meanwhile, we are continuing to monitor the situation and if necessary, we will assess the situation further and take swift, appropriate action.
For now, unfortunately, we do not have any further information about the scope of this attack or when it took place.

The reason for the outage this morning was a vulnerability in a third-party service, but at 2:50 am, we decided to take preemptive action and shut down the service before the problem could go any further.
It is the first time in over 7 years that we’ve taken that step.

The Roblox service, website, and most all of our support infrastructure are offline for the majority of the day due to a very serious vulnerability in a third-party web service.
The cause of the vulnerability is that our biggest and most trusted third-party provider has been compromised.

Until we know more about the situation, we can’t confirm exactly what is taking place or if the system will need to be taken offline.
