the campaign mode is what you would expect. you take control of each race from a first person perspective. the game boasts an impressive range of licensed riders, each with their own bike and giving you the chance to show them who’s boss. speaking of which, all the bikes featured include realistic controls and braking/acceleration physics. the rider models are decent enough to look out for, although the helmets do appear to suffer from a bit of age. the tracks have a similar level of detail, although some of the backdrops appear to be recycled from previous mxgp games.

when the game was first announced, i was excited for a new mxgp title. but when it released, i was disappointed. i suppose it’s a hard thing to compare to, but i do it anyway.

developers. this game should have been a great challenge for ninja theory. they’ve had some success with hellblade: senua’s sacrifice and tears to tiara and the whole “dark fantasy/action” thing worked in their favour. but this time around, mxgp3 failed to impress. perhaps they were playing it safe by staying true to the licence, but after so many previous attempts to bring mxgp to the home console, this one lacked the spark. and that’s a shame.

there’s not much point in this review if we can’t put some numbers to it, so we’ll get into the differences. other than the graphics, the game is nearly identical to mxgp 2014. but this doesn’t mean it’s the same game. while the mechanics of the game are largely the same, the features have evolved. things like online have been significantly improved. the network gets active from the minute you start the game, and there are no lag issues at all.
