FULL ACDSee V9.0 Photo Manager

Hi Peter
I never used Lightroom until now, but used iPhoto & Preview. So I know the workflow. There was also the option to grab a copy of iPhoto from the app store. I saved all my photos in this copy of iPhoto. In fact I never got around to importing them into LR.
So its not Lightroom thats the issue. At least with Lightroom you know the ID numbers, but with Blurb/Bob Books and the like, I have no clue what the ID number is and have to search for them.
Hopefully ACDsee will aid me in the job.

Thanks for info re metadata in Lightroom. What do you mean by ball and chain? I dont really understand what you mean.
I guess what I want to know is how ACDsee deals with this. I was thinking Lightroom or Aperture is the king of organizing. With ACDsee I am stuck with some program I have to learn?
Again I realise that this is very much a guess, but after reading your recent posts Im interested to know.

Thanks for your reply. I guess what Im trying to say is ACDsee seems to deal with sorting/cataloguing/organising better than LR.. in the same way that Word deals with documents and spreadsheets better than the corresponding programs.
If that makes sense? So at the moment Im dealing with 40,000 photos. Ive got the ones that I will need for my photo books and I keep these in iPhoto. I can easily export photos from iPhoto into Blurb, but it doesnt show me the ID numbers that LR does for files. I guess my point is that it doesnt feel like Im dealing with my photos like I want. Not my fault, but Blurb cant do this task and nor can I see what ID numbers are. So I guess Im thinking that what Im trying to say is ACDsee will bring my photos together in a way that Im not used to and will make it so much simpler to manage.
I guess thats the reason I want to stick to LR. But at the moment, thats because Im used to it. Also since I have 40,000 photos, learning how to do it all from scratch sounds daunting.
