I’ve gone through the entire program, from install to performance. In general, I think it’s a good update. And, the review has been smooth: No big patches or hotfixes like Lightroom 4.0.x had during this period. Still, I don’t see any strong points that would make it worth a purchase. I am not a marketer, so it’s hard to say whether the program is selling well or not, but at the same time, there are no major bugs that should have been addressed.
The biggest issue for me is the one-click tag creation. I rarely use it, and, as far as I can tell, there are no alternatives that are as easy to use as it is. It is probably the most powerful feature in photo editing software in my opinion. All of my images are tagged, and I have the option to organize or categorize them by tags. It is a good feature, but it does get in the way with the multiple one-click tags routinely generated during the import process. You wind up with clutter.

In my few testing sessions with Lightroom 5, my initial experience has been good. I think the section feature is convenient when working on an album. I just wish it offered the option to show the section as a button instead of a new panel. Also, I would like to see Lightroom 5 offering the option to use the Save For Web & Devices feature when creating web galleries.
