Ahead of the opening of the Slaughterhouse live music venue in Brisbane, final plans have been approved.

The design of The Slaughterhouse, with its purposely steeper seating along the sides of the stage, was chosen by the Brisbane City Council for a range of reasons.

The councillor responsible for the design of The Slaughterhouse, Deputy Mayor Adrian Schrinner, says the ‘nosebleed seats’ at the back of the venue are not only for the convenience of the punters.

“One of the reasons we decided to put the seats at the back is because it really is a destination bar – they’re like a hill, you have to go to the back to get in,” Mr Schrinner said.

“We’ve designed it so that there is a nosebleed seat… to allow people to sit on the backs of their seats, so that’s not a real safe or comfortable way to sit, but it’s a nice way to go to the bar.”

The council is now working on the program to manage the venue.

Council officers will monitor the venue’s performance and make regular visits to ensure the venue is being operated in accordance with its license.
