I really like this textbook and think the pedagogical feature are a really good addition to the text. I would like that the chapter on the motor system had more information on the central control of movement, so people would know exactly what the section on the motor system is about. Overall, I have a good amount of experience with anatomy classes so I can probably jump in very quickly, and do not have a hard time finding what I need to learn. I would give it an excellent review score if I could.

This book was really useful as an elective for my sophomore Anatomy class. It makes the subject more approachable for students who may not necessarily have a background in biology. I definitely liked the inclusion of more pedagogical features, such as sidebars, boxes on terms that could be studied, etc. The vocabulary parts, though, are definitely a little weak, and I think that should be investigated. I like the fact that the chapter headings are arranged in a logical order, and that the chapters add up to form smaller sections within the organ systems. It is obvious that the textbook was produced to be the most current one, as there are changes in the curricula, and the use of multimedia to illustrate concepts. I think that in the future, the section on the brain, for example, could be broken up into two or more chapters.

I was a little disappointed with this textbook. The development in the text is much greater than I expected, with a lot of new terms that can be a little confusing. For instance, the chapter on the sense organs has sections on the eyes and ears. However, the parts on eyes and ears are completely different than the parts on the sense organs, and probably don’t belong in the same chapter. It seems that the text is organized well, but lacks information that the student could use on their own. If you are required to use the textbook, then I think it is fine, but if not, I would recommend trying out other anatomy textbooks first. The pedagogical features were also helpful, so I would recommend getting this textbook.
