Why does the compiler warn of undefined behaviour in case of double braces, but not with single?

Just found a interesting example:
int foo() {
int bar = 0;
return (int) bar;
}

It compiles fine without warnings. But adding the double brace, the warning pops up:

The question is why is that, and what could possibly go wrong?
Is it something related to the x86 ABI in this case, or is it something with the C standard?
