How to use AutoCAD

Step 1: Create New Project

Open AutoCAD, click on the New icon, and follow the prompts to set up a new project. You can also select an existing drawing from the Application menu.

Step 2: Select Drawing Objects

Use the Object Selector, an icon located at the top of the screen, to select all the objects in your drawing. In most projects, objects are placed on a specific layer, so objects are typically ordered by layer.

Step 3: Move and Rotate Drawing Objects

Use the Move tool and Rotate tool to move and rotate any object in your drawing. By default, the cursor is a crosshair; when you click the mouse, it changes to an arrow to help you place the object precisely. To rotate an object, you drag the cursor to the left or right to make the object clockwise or counterclockwise. To move an object, click and drag the object where you want it. You can move an object until you release the mouse button. Objects snap to their closest guide edge or object boundary. When objects are on separate layers, you can move and rotate them on separate layers.

Step 4: Select Drawing Units

Use the Dimension, Linear, Angular, and Angle tools to select units in your drawing.

Step 5: Modify Drawing Objects

Use the Selection tools to modify objects in your drawing. With the Direct Selection tool, you can select a block of connected objects. To change the properties of selected objects, use the Properties palette. The Properties palette is used to edit objects and their properties. You can use the Properties palette to change the color, size, transparency, or pattern of a drawing object. You can also modify properties such as width, height, or length for any selection or dimension.

Step 6: Draw Line, Arc, Polyline, Polygon, and Spline

Use the Line, Arc, Polyline, Polygon, and Spline tools to draw lines, arcs, polygons, and curves in your drawing. You can also use

The death toll from Nepal’s earthquake has risen to 863, according to the government.

The deadly disaster has claimed the lives of at least 686 people, local and government sources told the BBC.

Aid agencies say up to 5,000 people are still missing after the 7.8-magnitude quake.

Nepal has been struggling to cope with its worst-ever natural disaster, which has left more than 20,000 people dead or missing.

Rescuers have been unable to access some of the worst-hit areas because of the risk of aftershocks and because of landslides, the BBC’s Mark Doyle reports.

Tens of thousands of people in the Kathmandu Valley are homeless and aid agencies say hundreds of thousands are in need of urgent food and shelter.

Our correspondent says there is little sign of the government heeding calls from aid agencies and international donors to deploy more emergency workers to the mountainous region.

There are reports that the government has blocked aid and rescue workers at the airport.
